The Old Lighthouse

Grey eased himself down into a sitting position, his legs dangling through rusted guardrail around the edge of the lighthouse, Port Nowhere's most recognizable landmark. He stared out into the seemingly endless waves of the ocean, sipping from an old looking bottle with a faded logo, the only thing recognizable about it being the Mydarian star.

The clicking of her shoes was the clearest sign that she was there, short, red hair whipping about her head carelessly as the woman approached. Carefully, she knelt beside him, sliding her legs through the guardrails as well. Her eyes searched his curiously, watching, "What brought you over here?"

"I like t'watch the sunset from here." He said drunkenly, tipping the bottle back once again. He turned it towards her, offering it to her with the Mydarian star facing right towards her. He gazed out across the sea, watching as the sun turned the oceans orange and the sky various shades of pink and purple.

Rose looked at him and the bottle with an uneasy, raised eyebrow. After a moment, she took it from him, taking a sip before dumping the bottle out against the ground below. "The sunset?" She questioned.

He pointed out across the waves and hiccuped lightly, taking the bottle and sipping from it once again. "It's beautiful." He said with a slur, though he turned his head and offered her a smile. "But not as beautiful as you."

A pause followed, her eyes rolling, no blush flooding to her cheeks as she tilted her chin up and looked onwards towards the horizon. "Flattery again, Grey?"

Grey looked at the empty bottle with sad eyes, letting out a soft hum and tossing the bottle off the edge, watching as it shattered on the rocks below. He looked up at her and shrugged, letting out a soft hiccup. "Somethin's gotta work."

"What makes you think that anything will?" She asked, her tone teasing as she reached over, squeezing his upper thigh a bit roughly, very purposely.

"I dunno..." He said in a melancholic tone, eyes focusing on the waves crashing into the rocks below. He felt her squeeze his thigh, and one of his hands moved to rest over hers, though his shimmering gray eyes never moved from the salty sea below.

She kept her eyes on him, calculating, silent, merely watching and observing. Not a word fell from her lips, her eyes not seeming to blink.

Grey leaned forward and let out a grunt, pushing hard and sending the rusted railing tumbling down into the waves with a hiccup. He looked up at her, giving a drunken smile, looking like he'd just achieved something.

Rose shook her head in response, pulling him back and looking at him with a raised brow, eyes stern as she stared him down. "How much did you drink?"

"Th' whole bottle..." He muttered, kicking his legs over the edge and staring at the faintly visible twisted heap of metal that had moments ago been the only thing keeping him safe from plummeting.

A groan followed his words, and soon she had him straddled, arms pinned above his head as she leaned over him. "Got a deathwish there, Hawke?"

"I'm invincible." He said in a lackluster tone and with a hiccup following his words. "I've gotta iron of liver."

"Invincible doesn't get pinned to the floor of an old lighthouse deck." The bard blurted out flatly, eyes not leaving his.

Grey began to struggle underneath her, before flopping down and staring up at her, growling softly for a moment. His expression softened, however, when he saw how the light was filtering through her hair and lighting her face, and he struggled to reach a hand up, wanting to touch her cheek.

Her grip on him merely tightened, and she shook her head. "You're running yourself into the ground, Hawke. You're going to destroy yourself."

"Why d'you care?" He slurred out, though the drunken form of conviction in his voice was gone now, and his eyes freely roamed over her beautifully sunlit face.

Rose didn't grace his question with an answer, too distracted by the discomfort his affections were bringing her. "We're going back to the house." She said simply, though she didn't move to get off him, did not shift even her weight.

Grey pursed his lips at her insistence, yet when he realized she wasn't moving he stopped struggling, watching her curiously.

The tension in her muscles eased when he no longer fought her, and she moved both hands back and off of her wrists.

Grey slowly reached a hand up, cupping her cheek gently. "Your cheek looks pretty in th' light." He mumbled out drunkenly, pursing his lips.

Her eyes rolled and she shook her head, "More flattery?" She asked simply, but she leaned into his hand just slightly, not completely realizing it.

He smiled softly, eyes softening completely until they looked at her without a single trace of negativity. He didn't say a word, his alcohol-dulled mind momentarily enraptured by the goddess straddling him.
